woods hole and martha's vineyard, 2003
Eel Pond is in the center of Woods Hole, and is probably the best place for a small boat to dock. You have to enter it using a channel
under a drawbridge, and schedule your arrival or departure in advance. This is a view of Eel Pond from my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Rick's boat,
the Patriot Games.

... and here's one from the water.

Mom and Debbie Swimming in Eel Pond. We didn't tell them about the electric eels from which the pond gets its name until after the swim.
We took a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. This is Wood's Hole's Nobska Light from the ferry.
Oaks Bluffs, the destination of the ferry, looks like a seaside town from the port. But when you wander in you'll find an old
Methodist Cottage Town in the center.

On our ferry trip out of the harbor in the town of Vineyard Haven we spot a boat fire. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the fire really
burned the boat severely.
Sea gulls enjoy the air currents over Ferry, and swoop down frequently to be fed.
