I designed the Asniya site as a freelance project in 2003-2004. Asniya is a Dakota Sioux word that means "to heal" or "to cure." It is an outreach program established through Harvard Medical School whereby medical students are recruited from participating institutions to serve as interns, teaching medicine to children on reservations.

Asniya had no site, just some publications. The publications formed the source material for the site, and I worked with the founders of Asniya to determine the best look and feel. I used the medicine wheel symbol as one of its defining characteristics. When I revised it in 2004 I made some changes, including a switch to PHP, better structural markup and a more prominent watermark use of the medicine wheel symbol. Since then I have created a simple web gallery for showcasing photos of the group's work.
