The McLean Hospital site |
I provided consulting and design for the main McLean Hospital site starting in 2004. The hospital had a rather mid-1990s style site until as late as 2001, then rolled out a more modern site in that year. But by 2004 the hospital needed a much more scalable framework for a site, as it planned to release a great deal more information using the web. The Network Development group that ran the site also wanted to improve its design.
We hired a web design company to build a new site with a CSS-based design and PHP code for dynamic features and database integration. As part of the web group I helped to select this company and worked with them on the design, and also helped them to port the old data into the new site.
Since the site launched I've helped to maintain its content and to expand it. I've made a number of design enhancements, including an improved navigation system and some new styles for image presentation. I have also created some advanced database-driven sections of the site, including some PHP-generated XML.
